MezzQUOTE 2016 – New Features List

This list is a complete summary of the new features in MezzQUOTE 2016.  For a full explanation and training please see our Update Video Training.

  • Improved Dimensioning now shows Edge Distances on graphic
  • Enhanced Bay Removal Tool – Cantilever Areas can now also be removed
  • New Joist Remove (JR) and Joist Add (JA) commands. For creating internal openings in floor, or extending removed bay to create a partial bay
  • New Edge Protection (EP) feature with snap to columns and snap to joist feature, to designate handrailing for quotation purposes.  Adds handrailing length to Material Summary
  • Original Grid (GL) command – shows original grid layout where columns have been moved off grid
  • Bracing – new bracing options.  Knee, strut and X brace options and bracing graphics on diagram now reflects type of bracing
  • Beams and Columns etc now drawn to scale on graphics
  • Multi-tier floors – columns now listed as a single member and exported to MultiSTEEL as a single member instead of tier height members
  • New Clear Height Feature – gives FFL required for a particular Clear Height Required, taking into account chosen beam/joist depths
  • Column Optimisation (Lightning Button) featuring an optional capacity limit setting.  A setting of 70% means only select columns which are less than 70% stressed.  In Floor Editor, all columns can be optimised individually.
  • New Labelling commands – Beam, Column and Joist, Numbers and Labels, numbers now tie in with calculations.  Also Column Moments, Bearing Pressures and Beam Reactions can be displayed.   Note All buttons available in all the screens for convenience.
  • New “Structure Weights and Material Cost Summary” for Analyse/Design tab – LIVE PRICING now available as you design your floor.  Linked to your PRICE BOOK Excel File.  Includes “Change in Cost +/-” feature which shows effect on price of design changes.
  • New Member Selection tools – Select Individual or Groups or ALL Members of a particular type.  New SHIFT Select feature to select all beams in a vertical row (similar to old SV command) or all joists in a horizontal row (similar to old SH command). Members can also be selected by picking on the graphic diagrams.
  • New FULL FLOOR EDITOR  –  Move Columns by +/- Offsets,  with “live design” of column and beams.  The design responds immediately to changes in geometry. Design any member or group of members for least weight, or check for a chosen section.  New design tables show results for every member, capacity, deflections, column loads etc
  • Automatic Least Weight design option for Beams, Columns and Joists.  Can scan the whole floor and choose least weight sections.  Chosen sections can be modified afterwards to simplify number of different sections for example.
  • Baseplates can be resized individually with the effect on bearing pressure shown instantly.
  • Point Loads can be applied to any beams, up to 5 as either Dead or Live Load and are shown graphically.
  • The Material Summary is unchanged as this is obviously the key layout for existing quotations.  The screen however now features an Attach Price Book button, and shows the path to the Price Book used for Live Pricing.
  • New Cutting List tab – summarises all steel required by length for Beams, Columns, Joists, Bracing, also Plates, and main beam holes required for drilling.  Also shows unit cost, sub-totals and total cost for Beams, Columns etc
  • Export tab – minor bug fixes and enhancements.
  • Printout Module – more printout options as the previous Inner/Outer design approach is now more flexible and individual member calcs need to be available for selection.
  • New extended K joist library for USA designers – now includes the full range of joists in the SJI Standard Specification.
